Application for Students applying for a Scholarship

Who is eligible?

Any person living in New Zealand who is through either side of parents or grandparents or great grandparents of Polish extraction. Students can apply for refund of course fees, cost of their textbooks and other course related costs.

To determine the eligibility of each applicant and the extent of support the Trustees may consider the following criteria:

a) The extent of the applicant’s interest and involvement in matters related to Polish history, language, culture and his/her contribution to the Polish community in New Zealand;

b) The suitability of the applicant for the proposed course of study;

c) The past scholastic record of the applicant;

d) The financial status and/or needs of the applicant;

e) Other relevant factors at the Trustees’ sole discretion.

Application Closing Dates

There are two funding rounds with application closing dates as follows:

  • Round 1 - 31 March
  • Round 2 - 31 July

To be processed within a funding round applications must be received by Trustees before the appropriate closing date for that round. Applicants will be informed about the outcome of their application within one month of the closing date.

How to apply?

  1. Download the application form.
  2. Fill out the form, making sure to answer all questions.
  3. Attach all required documents, including:
  • Receipt for the course fees (Note: An invoice is not a receipt and neither is the printout from your Studylink. You need to get the receipt from the Registrar, if you havn’t received it while enroling.)
  • Any other receipts, eg. for textbooks, if applicable
  • Proof of your Polish descent
  • Proof of New Zealand citizenship or Permanent Residency status
  • Reference letters

What will happen next?

  • Your application will be reviewed for completeness.
  • Within a few days of the receipt of your application an acknowledgement email will be sent to you confirming that your application has been received by the Trust.
  • If any information or documents are missing, you will be asked to supply these.
  • The Trustees will meet in the month following the applications closing date to allocate the funds.
  • A letter will be posted to you informing you about the outcome of your application.
  • If your application has been successful, the scholarship granted to you will be paid to your nominated student loan account or bank account.
